Skate Till You Puke
This is a story I wrote in Grade Nine for and English Assignment. I’m not too fond of it though. It might gross you out just a little. lol
I used to skate, and when I was about 8 or 9 I started to compete in local competitions, this was my first time, I was so happy because I was going to compete just like my sister. It was in Leamington at the new arena, at the time. My sister skated earlier in the day and I skated at 9pm at night! My parents could not believe it, they were making 8 year olds skate that late at night! We had some time, actually tons of time. We decided to go get lunch “Wendy’s?” said my dad. We all agreed. I’m pretty sure I had eaten fries, a burger, a frosty and a drink. I was stuffed.
When we got back we watched more flights, which are a group of skaters. It was about 1½ hours before I had to go on. I had got my costume on, it was an orange turtle neck with black pants and a colourful belt sort of thing, a sash you could call it. I had a stomach ache, of course I thought it was nerves, I’m sure it was because I threw up. I went to the washroom and again, I threw up. My dad took me to the van to get some water and some fresh air, guess what on the way back I threw up, about 4 more times. It was almost time to skate and I drank some more water and felt a little better. I was not even sure if I was ok to skate. It was nine and finally I went on and did my routine, spins and jumps, my routine was to the theme of Star Wars. The music was done and my sister threw a teddy bear on the ice and as soon as she did the announcer said “Please do not throw anything on the ice.” I went to get it and fell on my bum and tripped over it. I picked it up and it had a gold medal around it, it wasn’t the real medal obviously. The results were posted and in second place was no one other than me! I was so happy.
The next day I had to come back because my sister had another event. And what did we see when we walked into the arena? My throw up, because it was winter and it was definitely cold outside, it froze. I saw it in about 5 different places, even where we parked the day before. It wasn’t very pleasant to see. Wendy’s? NEVER AGAIN!
